Project Types

Different carbon credit project registries use different names to classify the land management strategies that sequester carbon. Names vary by registry but are generally similar. Our case studies are registered with Verra, the Climate Action Reserve (CAR), and the American Climate Registry (ACR).

Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) - Verra

Practices that consist of planting of trees and other plant biomass in degraded forests or grasslands.

Forestry - Climate Action Reserve (CAR)

Practices that consist of the conservation, restoration, and improved management of forests, similar to IFM.

Forest Carbon - American Carbon Registry (ACR)

Practices that consist of sequestering carbon through active forest management, similar to the IFM and Forest project types.
